When I had my first daughter, Katie, I was a second year law student. It drove me crazy that I lost at least one of her socks from every pair. Initially, I lost them because socks slip off little feet, especially taking her in and out of the baby carrier, stroller, car seat, and swing. Since she was born in October, I worried all winter long about the one cold foot that had to go sockless until we could get home. Then, we entered the phase where it became a game for Katie to pull off her socks and toss them out of the stroller to see if Mommy was paying attention. I decided there had to be a better way to stop losing all her socks. Out of sheer exasperation, I came up with the idea for Snapdragon Baby Socks and developed the first prototype. At the time, we lived on Stanford's campus, and there were a number of families with young children. Everyone who saw Katie's socks wanted them and encouraged me to start selling socks.

After securing a patent, having another daughter (Chloe) and graduating from law school, I decided it was time to create a company. I turned to a close friend, Lisa Johnson, for help. Lisa has worked in both marketing and retail for a number of years. Together, we created Snapdragon Baby Co. with you - the parent - and your most precious loved one - your baby - in mind. During our company development, I had a son (Gregory) who has been a steadfast baby sock tester and endured numerous photos from "mamarazzi."
